New Desk

Yesterday, we assembled Tina's new desk from IKEA. Tina's choice....black and white MIKAEL, inexpensive and great design, easy to assemble, I LOVE IKEA!!!!
Max was watching us and he fell asleep among the animals. Tina had been collecting stuffed animals for whole her life (!) but it was finally the time to let them go. Because of the new desk, we got rid of the old desk and old things, and the animals went with it. Sad....but we will donate all of them, and wish new owners will take good care of them.

Nicky and Max

To our great relief, Nicky recovered from depression and start taking care of Max. He played with Max, he licked Max, he let Max play with his tail, he sat and watched outside with Max, he even let Max take a nap beside him! We wanted Max to be Nicky's friend, but worried a lot, what if they hate each other.....really a great relief!!

New Kitten Max

Nicky needs friends. He comes to me, sits beside me, looked up and says "Miaow???" - means, "Can you play with me?" And I have to race him to the other room and do Hide and Seek......
So we dicided to have one more. Nicky is now 9 1/2 months old, this new kitten Max is around 2 months. He is also from Broward County Animal Care and Regulations, although Nicky was sent to Pet Supermarket but we went to the Animal Shelter this time. Max was one of the three brothers, they were stray cats, never knew their Mom. We had to foster him now until he reaches 2 LB in weight and get neutered, then we can adopt him.

Nicky was very cautious and nervous on his first day home, he explored everywhere very carefully, but this kid Max.....he was so carefree and running around with joy. Nicky didn't make a lot of trouble like sweeping things down from the shelves or breaking things, but I believe that Max is going to be a trouble maker.

I was so worried because Nicky wasn't happy at all on the first day, he hid and didn't let me touch him, showing his frustration and confusion and he was mad at me. He made very strange mew sounds that we'd never heard from him. Like, I am hurt, I am confused, I don't wanna change things, I don't want that kid............what I did was to hug him and talk to him for a long time once I got him, but I was worried what's gonna happen to him, and to Max.

But the second day, Max just slipped out of his cage and there was no time to stop him when Nicky started to chase him. My heart stopped a second, but Nicky was very good. There was no way that Nicky run slower than Max, but he was chasing Max when he made effort to run faster and faster. Then sometimes, it was Max to go closer to Nicky and smell him, it was Max to come out of the hiding spot and scare Nicky! Nicky was so curious about this little creature, he didn't go against Max in full force. Good boy, Nicky, I am proud of you!

Butterfly World

September 3/Butterfly World, Coconut Creek, Florida
I spent almost 5 hours in the garden taking photos of butterflies and plants. After the last time I've been here, I researched their names, common and Latin, as much as I can. So what I felt here this time? A lot more familiar to the butterflies and flowers, as I knew them!
What interests me here are: Butterflies, Hummingbirds, other colorful birds, Passifloras, and Tropical plants. But not a very good bird shooter.....

Burrowing Owl

Mom's face with annoyance and warning at first.
Burrowing Owls - they are the resident in Florida Peninsular. This couple was in our Plantation Central Park, next to the Soccer Field. The park people put the net around their burrow but not on the top, so they are protected from the soccer balls and still free.
The two of them were angry and very annoyed at my presence at first, but then, they knew I wouldn't do any harm to them, they quiet down soon and then were getting sleepy just in front of me and my camera. They might have some kids in the burrow, 'cause look at this Dad, he was sleeping with one eye open and aware of everything.
